2023: Four Star Round Up

Books that I loved but just didn’t make the 5 star cut. These were all rated as I read them and I cannot guarantee that I would give them the same rating today. The list below is in the order in which I read them. If you make it through all my five stars from 2023, here is your next step. Enjoy! xx

Source: Penguin Random House

1.       Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden – a classic

2.       The Social Graces by Renee Rosen *If you are a fan of The Gilded Age on HBO

3.       Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus *I think everyone has read this already, but keeping it here for good measure

4.       Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry – such a vulnerable memoir, so sad that he has since passed

5.       The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman – so cute, but also a real murder occurs!

6.       Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman – helps to ease some anxiety

7.       Inside Out by Demi Moore – raw, real memoir. I am a huge Demi fan now

8.       Magnolia Parks by Jessa Hastings – the tiktok craze got me. It was good and immature and entertaining

9.       The Idea of You by Robinne Lee – add a little spice

10.   The Party by Elizabeth Day *Recommended by Tinx

11.   Daisy Haites by Jessa Hastings – the second in the Magnolia Parks series. I will get to book #3 at some point.

12.   The Daddy Diaries: The Year I Grew Up by Andy Cohen – what is not to love about Andy Cohen talking about being Andy Cohen?

13.   The Last Russian Doll by Kristen Loesch – continuing my interest in all things Russia – thinking back I haven’t thought about this one in a while… maybe this should have been 3 stars?

14.   Pineapple Street by Jenny Jackson – Probably less interesting if you don’t know Brooklyn Heights well

15.   The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post by Allison Pataki *If you are a fan of The Gilded Age on HBO

16.   Trespasses by Louise Kennedy – about the Troubles in Northern Ireland – interesting and complicated characters

17.   28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand – beach read

18.   Greenwich Park by Katherine Faulkner – thriller with great twist

19.   Jackie: Public, Private, Secret by J. Randy Taraborrelli – do we assume these books are true? Interesting for sure…

20.   Horse by Geraldine Brooks – awesome historical fiction about slavery and horse racing

21.   None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell – great thriller/mystery that keeps you on the hook

22.   The Guest by Emma Cline – if you’ve ever been in a share house…

23.   Yellowface by RF Kuang – heavy duty, a lot to discuss and think about with this one. I recommend reading with a book club or along with a friend

24.   The Measure by Nikki Erlick – gives the reader A LOT to think about – dystopian but not

25.   Trust by Hernan Diaz – really cool format, Id give it a 4.5 stars - won the Pulitzer Prize

26.   The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton *If you are a fan of The Gilded Age on HBO

27.   Before We Were Innocent by Ella Berman *toxic female friendships at their finest
